April 5-6 I was invited to ride in the LaCarrera 24 hours race in Queretaro, MX. I thought, why not. It sounded like a hoot and it was.

This crazy event consisted of 10 teams of 6 riders riding from 12N Sat. to 12N Sunday. Each of us racing for 4 shifts of about 1 hour. The bikes were 10 brand new 200cc Pulsars. A little OHC single sport bike basically a Kawasaki made in India. Except for removing the mirrors and turn signals, sport muffler, jetting changes, and sport tires the bikes were standard. Amazingly 9 teams finished. Mostly without mechanical problems. One team crashed the bike out of the race (3 times) and retired. Our bike did have minor problems (carburettor) and we lost 2 hours. Enough time to stop us being competitve.

The track was beautiful, the weather perfect, the organization first class. And what crazy guys the Mexicans are. They love to race. Our team had one Australian/Texas gringo (me), one German (Guenther), and four fast, crazy Mexicans. We finished the race, turned in good lap times, did not crash, and had loads of fun.

Thank you Arthur, Victor, Martin, Luis, and Guenther my team mates, and of course thank you Lalo Leon, fast rider, nice guy, lunatic driver, and event organizer extraordinary.

Let's do it next year.

Me on the final laps. 23+ hours into the race.

Getting tired but turned my best lap time on this shift.
